State of the Mom Address

Sam will turn 5 months this Friday and here I am, still freaking overweight.

Yes, I’m a breastfeeding momma but I find that my appetite has gone way up the charts.  So I easily replace the burned fats through breastfeeding.  Sigh.

I want to go on a diet but I’m scared it might lessen my already diminishing milk supply.  So what do I do?

Although my jeans and slacks are starting to fit again, they feel snug around my thunder thighs.  My shirts don’t look strained anymore across my boobs but my arms — ugh.  Let’s not talk about my arms altogether.

Exercise worked for me before but my tight schedule (I wake up at 5 am to get to work at 8:30 am and arrive around 7 or 8 pm) prevents me to do so.  What do you guys think?  Should I make an effort to squeeze in exercise time?  Should I go on my tuna & crackers diet?  Or will that affect my milk supply?

Help. I’m drowning in fat.

Holiday Entry

It’s already mid-January but it’s only now that I get to blog about our 1st Christmas and New Year as a trio.  I have had a mild (or major) case of mental block this past couple of weeks.  So today, I force myself to write again.  Maybe this will help stimulate my neurons to work again.  Honestly, it was a hurdle to go back to the office on January 5 because my mind was simply hibernating.  So anyway, let’s get it on lest I totally forget how we celebrated our holidays.

Christmas at the boondocks

On December 24, we, Manuel, Sam, Yaya Velyn, and I drove up to the bundok peninsula of Unisan, Quezon.  We left Cavite at 4:30 am and so by 10 am, we were ensconced in my parents’ home there.  We made good time because we left early to avoid the holiday traffic.  Sam slept for most of the time in the car as it was still dark out.  When we got there, we just had brunch with my parents who were thrilled to see Sam, and slept till the early afternoon.  Hehe.  Talk about being batugan.

Oooh. Side entry. We still had work on December 24 but I begged off from work because I missed our anniversary on the 23rd already and man, I don’t know why we still had to work on the eve of Christmas!  Even our clients weren’t up to working anyway.  So anyhoo…back to regular programming…

Our home in Unisan is flanked by the houses of our relatives.  So it was literally a reunion of sorts every Christmas.  Each family helped in the Noche Buena and my sister and mom played hosts to games for the kids…and okay, some adult games as well.  Most of us, magpipinsan are grown ups already so it wasn’t as magulo — but nevertheless, Christmas is always a fun time for everybody.  So I was really reluctant to get back to Cavite on the 27th because I was thoroughly enjoying our break.  Also, it was a plus that my parents were around taking care of Sam so I could have some time for myself.

Holiday at MOA

We visited Mall of Asia a day after we got back from Unisan, Quezon.  We met up with Sam’s ninong Acky and ninang Michelle to collect his gifts.  Haha.  This was also the first time I played a game of bowling after a very, very long time.  Honestly, I was really tired after one game.  And since I kinda felt that my stitches were acting up, I decided to beg off for a 2nd game.  My score was over a 100 but hubby beat me of course.  I’ll beat him next time!  I promise! :P

New Year at Valenzuela

On the 30th, we celebrated a post-Christmas celebration with Mia, Emer and Allan at Allan’s place in Fairview.  After our short brunch, we went to see Michelle and her newborn, Datu Miguel.  She gave birth last December 28.  I was so excited to meet Datu!

We stayed for a night at my parents place then went to Valenzuela the next day to get ready to celebrate the New Year at my in-laws.

Before midnight, we were already at my SIL’s place.  I cooked some garlic mushrooms — my favorite pulutan. Hehe.  By midnight, I was looking forward to watch the fireworks but lo and behold, Sam howled because of the firecrackers!  Siguro it took him like 20 minutes of incessant crying.  Sobrang kawawa talaga.  What distracted him eventually was when Tita Susan, put Barney on TV.  He and his Kuya Dale were so into it.  Sam was all giggles.  Barney lang pala katapat.  But I still have yet to buy a Barney DVD.  For some reason, I don’t like the purple dinosaur.

Anyhoo, on New Year, we prepared for New Year Lunch with the whole Dacio clan.  It was a fun event filled with games for the many kids.  And it was such a joy to meet the other relatives who haven’t been attending for the longest time.

Overall, it was a good way to end the year.  I can’t wait for the holidays again MINUS Sam’s howling!

Birthday Weekend

I dread January because it’s my birthday month — especially now that I’ve hit the mark where my age isn’t on the calendar anymore every other month.  Sigh.  But that’s not all. I worry because I’m old and I haven’t made it at least in my book.  But then again, I still am grateful because people remembered my birthday — I exist!  Obvious bang KSP buong taon? :P

Actually, my birthday sorta celebration began on January 16, Friday. We had dinner with my hubby’s family at North Park, Trinoma since it was also my MIL’s birthday.  It was actually a triple celebration as it was also my SIL’s wedding anniversary.  We also met my BIL’s girlfriend for the first time.  Sam fell asleep during dinner which was good so hubby and I could eat.  But he awoke short after and played with his cousin Dale.

On Saturday — my birthday, we had lunch at Chocolate Kiss in UP with my friend Odette.  Odette is Sam’s ninang so we really wanted to meet up with her so she could meet her inaanak.  Odette and I both ordered our favorite, Chicken ala Kiev and bottomless Iced Tea of course!  As always, Chocolate Kiss didn’t disappoint.  And even Odette, who wasn’t in the eating mood the whole week, almost finished her Kiev.

Afterwards, Hubby, Sam and I went to Trinoma to buy some stuff, went to Circle C to find Sam a can of S-26 and order Red Ribbon Palabok.  So that was it, we just had a quiet dinner at my in-laws home for my birthday.

Yesterday, Sunday, we visited my Nanay’s grave in Heaven’s Gate.  It’s her third death anniversary.  Yup, she died past midnight right after my birthday.  I guess she didn’t want to spoil my birthday so she fought on till midnight.

By dinner time, we met up with my mom, dad, Ria, and Maynard at Sushiya, Libis.  Mommy missed Sam so much that she kept carrying her apo the whole time except when she had to eat. Last time they saw Sam was Christmas pa.

So there, that wraps up my birthday weekend!

Thank you to all those who remembered aside from my family of course:

Major Boo-boo

I was looking for Sam’s baby record book in my bags lying around the room when I saw my credit card booklet. When I picked it up, it opened with my driver’s license glaring at me. Oh yes, it dawned on me that I’ve been driving for a week to and from work without a driver’s license. Thank God I didn’t get into any mishaps last week.
